Chicago Women's Park and Gardens Community Gardening Group

Community gardens in the parks enhance community dynamics on many levels. Visually, the community garden can reflect the health, unity, creativity, beauty, culture and diversity of its community. Physically, the community garden can become a natural outdoor gym, where lifting, bending, pulling and pushing all promote muscular and cardiovascular activity. Socially, the community garden can bring neighbors together who once were complete strangers by providing a setting for acquaintances to become friends. Mentally, the community garden is a safe place for residents to grow and connect with nature and its provisions through caring for ornamental and edible plants.

Gardeners take initiative and responsibility for the community garden and in effect, the park as a whole. Please join us in Chicago's vibrant gardening movement by participating in our Chicago Women's Park Clarke House community garden.  There is a wait list currently.

Restored in 1999 by the City of Chicago Public Building Commission on behalf of Cultural Affairs, the vision of Chicago Women's Park and Gardens was to create a passive park to pay tribute to the important women in the History of Chicago.  Located in the Prairie Avenue Historic District, surrounding the Clarke House Museum, and adjacent to The Glessner House Museum, Keith House, and other landmark anchors, the Chicago Women's Park and Gardens has a wide variety of features, architecture, public art, and plantings that can be enjoyed through walkways that provide a lovely dose of solitude amid the surrounding urban environment.

Come visit!  We invite you to review the links to the left to learn more about Chicago Women's Park & Gardens, the Public Art & Features in the Park, The Landmark Prairie Avenue Historic District, The Clarke House Museum, the new Neighborhood around Women's Park, and The Glessner House Museum.
